  Dem Rimz!... Dat drug deal?
Chatting with the world of people in South Hill
  Family time for Christmas
  Medical run

On Sunday we were dropped off in South Hill and had 4 lessons with 5 really solid people. One individual we talked with for a long time discussed how he had been other faiths but seen as he read in the Bible that they didn't teach as how he saw it. We later discussed with him the purpose of the Book of Mormon, which was to testify of Jesus Christ and help clear up false doctrine preached. We also shared with him the Articles of faith. He liked hearing 13 specific core beliefs that we have that set us apart from other Christian churches.

After we talked to a coworker of a member about Christ and the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ we were picked up and driven by a member. As we were at a stoplight I saw a dude with some gnarly rims on his car and took a picture or two. We looked at one of the pictures and its him holding a wad of cash in exchange for a bag.... Pretty sure it was a drug deal I accidentally took some photos of. When the light turned green we booked it outa there but hey, one of them is clear of the stuff.
Dem Rimz
On Christmas I got to Skype with my family and a friend who was at my house when the call happened. My mom's parents were there too so it was a huge party! I was so happy to see everyone (even my dog is still kickin' so that was fun to see as well.) I wish I could have talked longer but I will be able to see all of them again so I should be fine.
The rest of our Christmas was spent with the Evans and Hardy families. That was really fun being able to play board games and solve puzzles that took forever. I love Christmas.

A line in a song comes to mind and came to mind near all this week as we were walking around Lawrenceville, South Hill, and Emporia. "Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven." I know that families can be together and am thankful for the time in our life we are with them and to know that whatever happens, we will be able to see and remember them later and forever gives me comfort. I am also glad to know that because Jesus Christ was born, lived a sinless life, and died for us, peace and salvation can be obtained by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel so we can have the Grace of Christ not only allow us to be with God again, but to change our nature so we have no more disposition to do evil and feel comfortable in the presence of God forever.

I went to a doctor's appointment to check on my heart.

So... The 15th...( my birthday)  I am now a district leader. Basically what that means is I have a responsibility of looking over a few sets of missionaries and helping with the work. I also give trainings and have district meetings.

That day was hectic because we woke up  at 5:30am to get to the other elders apartment. Elder Hansen still had to pack and one of the other missionaries had to be at the meeting at 9am and it took an hour to get to their place and another hour to get to the meeting. I worked with Elder Wolfersberger in his area for the day and basically what we did was work with their ward mission leader all day. The other missionaries were supposed to get back by 3 but that didn't happen... they ended up coming back around 6pm and we had nearly completed working on the Gps coding with their ward mission leader to input the records they had on the area gps for guidance and direction.  Anyway we got back to our apartment with a learning experience, Programming takes a long time. The other new Elders are Elder Udy (I knew him from a previous area of my mission) and Elder Tanner. If I didn't have to call him Elder Tanner all the time I’d call him T-Dawg Tanner because he is an awesome homie that is tall so the T stands for the tallness (6' 5") and yeah, you get the rest.

The next day we worked hard and so far have found 16 new investigators to teach. The family we found was a family of 9 who the mom said in her own words before we even started teaching that "there is a prophet of God walking around the earth, I just don't know where". She asked for 8 copies of the Book of Mormon and started reading it right away. If there was a family that was prepared for the message of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.... It is that family...

Yes, there is a quote from Yoda there, It is an honor of the new Star Wars movie that I will see the day after I get home (and no worries, that was about the only plans I had when I got home so far, and I don't plan on making more for another 11 months). Please no spoilers. That is my only request.

There is an investigator that missionaries have been teaching since last November (of 2014) and guess what.... he has finally decided for himself to give up the things holding him back! Elder Tanner and I asked for a pack of his Cigarettes and we wrote scriptures on them for him so we had him promise he would read them before he smoked each one... he said it took him a longer time to smoke and he felt he could hold off longer. It was a great spiritual experience when he decided to change with his increased desire and he has found the motivation he needs to do so.

We graded tests with a member because he fed us dinner and the
requirement was heat we helped grade college exams with him. This is

A Cool Miracle

December 14, 2015

My companion and I did not know what to do because it was 8:30ish on Sunday night and pitch black and we still had time before we were supposed to be in so we decided to go to an investigator's house. This investigator had been taught by missionaries before, and when we knocked on his door, a friend of his opened the door and let us in.

We saw our investigator sitting on the floor with two other people playing a card game when he stood up and said hello and welcomed us in. The other two individuals looked up and their faces went from smiling to not smiling and we were hesitant to stay but were prompted to and it turns out that the other individuals had a lot of questions they had heard about Mormons from the internet and started rattling off usual things we seem to hear from people who don't know a whole lot about our faith in Christ and finally one said "I gave my life to Christ Long ago so I am good" and we asked him what it meant to him to give his life to Christ and asked why we hadn't "given ours while we lived a fun life" so we explained a lot of how the lifestyle we live helps us continually give ourselves to Christ. He wanted to learn more and his friend that was there also wanted to learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ as well in how we believed.

My companion gave them the pamphlet of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and briefly talked about the importance of God's Love and receiving a witness while I pulled out the Book of Mormon from under our investigator's laptop and said that this was from God loving us and we invited them to read, pray and be baptized and they accepted all three and asked if we could come back Thursday around the same time so they knew they could be home. We said sure and are still studying to help answer their questions.
